Harmony Day Prayer
God of all people,
You have united us through the gift of the risen Jesus. Just as Jesus taught us to love our neighbour as ourselves help us to remember our call to be servants to one another. With selfless hearts, may we reach out to all people, breaking racial and cultural divisions, so that everyone may experience a sense of mutual respect and belonging.
We make this prayer through your Son, and our risen Lord, Jesus.
Amen

FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Dear Parents and Caregivers
Catholic Identity
Sacramental Preparation
Thank you to all families who attended the Enrolment Masses last weekend and the General Theology Parent Meeting. We are grateful to the Parish for leading and supporting our sacramental program. If your child is in Year 3, 4 or 6 and you were unable to attend one of the Enrolment Masses, please contact Miss Leddin for assistance.
Religious Education Framework
This week, our staff participated in professional learning on CEWA’s newly released Religious Education Framework. The framework invites students and teachers to walk together on a journey of inquiry and discovery of the person of Jesus and the message of the Gospel. It supports the teaching of Religious Education within the rich tradition of our Catholic faith.
Education Pillar
Parent/Teacher Interviews
Parent/teacher interviews are currently underway. These meetings are an important part of our reporting process, providing an opportunity for parents/carers and teachers to discuss student progress and reinforce the partnership between home and school. Thank you to all who have already attended. If you are yet to make an appointment, please contact your child’s teacher directly to arrange a time before the end of term.
NAPLAN
Our Year 3 and Year 5 students have now completed the official NAPLAN testing schedule. Congratulations to our Year 3 students for their positive approach to this new experience. Thank you to Stefanie Neri for coordinating NAPLAN and to the Year 3 and 5 teachers for their ongoing support.
Levels of Behaviour
Liwara uses the Levels of Behaviour Framework as a whole-school approach. This framework explicitly and visibly teaches the connection between purpose and behaviour. Students identify helpful learning behaviours that support their progress, as well as unhelpful behaviours that may be a barrier. The language below may support parents if follow‑up conversations are needed at home:
- GREEN: helpful behaviours
- YELLOW: minor unhelpful behaviours requiring redirection
- ORANGE: unhelpful behaviours that require adult assistance to manage and help the student get back on track
- RED: serious or significant behaviours that result in a consequence (time-out, parent contact, or referral to an Assistant Principal)
Our goal is always to focus on the positive by redirecting, re-engaging and supporting students in choosing helpful behaviours.
Community Pillar
Harmony Week
Harmony Week 2026 runs from Monday, 16 March to Sunday, 22 March, with Harmony Day on Saturday, 21 March. This national celebration highlights Australia’s cultural diversity, inclusiveness, and respect and aligns with the UN International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination.
The theme for 2026 is “Culture connects us all!” Today, students and staff wore orange accessories to show support for cultural diversity and an inclusive Australia. Students participated in class-based activities, acknowledging and celebrating the diversity within our community.
P and F Event Planning
Thank you to the P&F Executive Committee for meeting with the leadership team this week to draft meeting and event dates for 2026. The contributions of our volunteers are vital in living out the Liwara motto “Strength in Community.”
Stewardship Pillar
Staffing News
Jane Evans, our Social Worker, will be taking an extended period of leave for the remainder of this year. We wish Jane all the very best during this time with her family and we thank her sincerely for the support she has provided to our students and families. A process will commence shortly to appoint a temporary replacement.
Carpark Procedures
We have recently reviewed our carpark procedures. For the safety of all students, please ensure you follow the guidelines for the pick‑up and drop‑off lanes. Parking is strictly prohibited in these zones so that traffic can move safely and efficiently. If you need to park, please use a marked bay and escort your children directly to the closest footpath to ensure a safe entry into the school grounds.
Before School Supervision
School officially starts at 8.40am. Duty of care for students begins 15 minutes prior, at 8.25am. To support families, a staff member is rostered in the undercover area from 8.15am. Recently, some students have been arriving before 8.15am, when supervision commences. If you need to drop off before 8.15am please book into our Out of Hours School Care service. If students arrive unaccompanied before 8.15am, they will be directed to the office and parents will be contacted. We appreciate your support in ensuring all students are safely supervised before school.

Congratulations to all the students and families who have participated in Fume Free Friday by walking or cycling to school. Let’s see if we can get a record number of participants next Friday, the last Friday of the term.

CYBER SAFETY
New Social Media Age Rules for Under‑16s
From 10 December 2025, new Australian laws require major social media platforms—such as Facebook, Instagram, Kick, Reddit, Snapchat, Threads, TikTok, Twitch, X and YouTube—to take steps to prevent children under 16 from having accounts. Find the updated list here: Which social media platforms are age-restricted? | eSafety Commissioner
The aim is to protect young people from harmful or addictive online content and reduce screen time by delaying access to social media until age 16. Social media features like constant notifications, disappearing stories and recommended content are designed to keep you online longer. These can affect wellbeing by causing stress, reducing sleep, making it harder to focus, encouraging unhealthy comparisons, and exposing you to negative or upsetting content.
The new social media restrictions aim to protect under‑16s from these impacts and give young people more time to develop emotional, social and digital skills so they can better recognise and manage harmful online experiences.
Families are encouraged to talk with their children about the changes and find healthy, screen‑free ways to stay connected and engaged.
SCHOOL VALUES - RESPECT
In Term One we are focusing on our school value of Respect. We display respect by taking care of resources and our belongings, following directions and rules and working co-operatively.

24:7 YOUTH MINISTRY
TUESDAY 17TH MARCH
Last week at 24:7 Greenwood Youth Group, the young people gathered for an engaging evening filled with games, fun, and opportunities to deepen their faith. The night began with a relaxed time of fellowship, where some of the youth enjoyed card games while others played cricket outside. This informal start allowed everyone to connect, unwind, and settle into the evening together before the formal program began.
The structured part of the night commenced with a game of Wall Tag, which quickly brought energy and excitement to the group. This was followed by a round of Red Light, Green Light, another lively game that encouraged participation and friendly competition among the youth.
Following the games, the group gathered for the talk of the evening.
On Sunday, the youth were fortunate to be joined by Lionel, who shared his insights on the Offertory as part of the term theme, Unpacking the Mass. Lionel explained that the Offertory is not simply the moment when the bread and wine are brought forward during Mass, but also an invitation for each person to spiritually offer their own sacrifices, efforts, and intentions to God. He encouraged the young people to reflect on how they can unite their daily struggles, achievements, and acts of love with the offering made at the altar, recognising that the Offertory represents a deeper act of giving ourselves to God.
The evening concluded with anticipation for the following week’s gathering, which promises to be another exciting opportunity for the youth to come together in faith and fellowship.
NEXT YOUTH GROUP
Our next Youth Group will take place next week and will feature a Game Show Night, where the young people will participate in a variety of interactive and entertaining games. During the evening, the group will also continue exploring the term theme, Unpacking the Mass, with a guest speaker who will share a reflection on the significance of Holy Communion.

COMMUNITY NEWS
Set beneath the ocean’s surface and along a sunlit shoreline, The Little Mermaid follows Ariel — a curious young mermaid with a head full of dreams — who longs to explore life beyond the waves. When she makes a risky deal to chase that dream, she discovers that growing up isn’t just about getting what you want, but learning what truly matters: family, courage, and finding your voice. For parents, it’s more than a day or night out. Live musical theatre gives children something screens can’t: shared laughter in a room full of people, music that lands in the chest, and a story that becomes a conversation on the way home. It’s a rare kind of family time — everyone together, swept up in the same moment.
