A Prayer for our First Holy Communion Candidates
Loving God,
We thank You for the gift of our children who are preparing to receive their First Holy Communion.
Fill their hearts with joy and wonder as they come to know Your Son, Jesus, in the Eucharist.
May they always feel Your presence in their lives, and grow in faith, hope, and love each day.
Bless their families, teachers, and parish community who guide and support them on this sacred journey.
Help us all to be good examples of Your love, so that these children may continue to walk closely with You.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen

FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Dear Parents and Caregivers
Catholic Identity
Sacrament of Eucharist
Please pray for our Year 4 students who will make their First Holy Communion at the parish masses over this weekend and next weekend. I am sure their faith will be strengthened by sharing the Eucharist and I hope they enjoy their family celebrations.
Parish Youth Group
Today, members from the parish youth group came to visit the Year 6 students and led a team activity to showcase the youth group. The parish youth group runs every Sunday from 6.30-8.30pm for students in Years 6 to 12. Year 6 families, please see the flyer on Seesaw and under 24:7 Youth News below for specific information.
Education Pillar
Edu-Dance Program
We are approaching the finale of the dance program. Our students have enjoyed this week’s dress rehearsal lessons and the excitement is building for concerts next Wednesday 17th June. Green classes will hold their concert at 1.30pm and Red classes at 2.20pm. A full schedule is available on Seesaw.
Cross Country
The Liwara Cross Country rolling year-level events are now complete. Students competed with enthusiasm and encouraged each other. The training at our Liwara Running Club paid off. All results have been published on Seesaw. Thank-you to Ciaran Sanders for coordinating this event.
Music Assembly
Congratulations to our musicians who entertained the school community this afternoon. It was a showcase of varied talent, with students demonstrating their commitment to learning their chosen instrument.
Toys and Fidgets
Please keep personal toys and fidgets at home. For a variety of reasons, including breakages, conflict, lost items and peer pressure, we ask that students not bring toys to school, including sensory toys. Each classroom is equipped with a selection of sensory resources available to students as needed.
Community Pillar
Family Puzzle Afternoon
Last Sunday, a small group of families enjoyed an afternoon of puzzles, conversation and snacks, as they worked independently and collaboratively to complete a variety of puzzle challenges. Thank-you to Amanda McCabe for coordinating and Kirsten Sparkes for attending. Without these passionate staff members, opportunities such as this would not be possible.
P and F News
This week, the P and F Executive met to discuss the logistics of upcoming events. We also had a Liwara Fair Meeting. The Fair Committee is making progress. They are seeking volunteers. The Fair Chairperson and Fair Treasurer positions are currently vacant. Both positions will be fully supported by the P and F Executive team, and the Fair treasurer will be supported by the school Finance Officer, Kirsten Staples. These events come together when volunteers step up, sometimes outside their comfort zones, to contribute for the benefit of students, families and community members. If you have some time to assist in any way, please contact the P and F. (liwarapf@gmail.com)
Stewardship Pillar
Let's Grow Grant
Liwara Catholic Primary School is excited to share that we have applied for a Let’s Grow Trees grant, an initiative designed to support schools in expanding green spaces and strengthening environmental education. If successful, this grant will allow us to plant a variety of native trees and shrubs across our grounds, creating cooler outdoor learning areas, improving biodiversity, and giving students more opportunities to engage in hands-on sustainability projects. This application reflects our ongoing commitment to caring for creation and nurturing a culture of stewardship within our school community. We look forward to keeping families updated on the outcome and, hopefully, inviting everyone to be part of the planting and celebration that follows. Many thanks to Pia Tilka for her work on the grant submission.
Carparking - City of Joondalup
The City of Joondalup has contacted us. They will be monitoring car parking around the school at peak times. Please ensure you park legally, respecting the safety of our school community and neighbours. Please do not park in No Standing zones or anywhere that blocks driveway access. Families with students from Year 1 to 6 are encouraged to use the drive-through drop-off and pick-up system in the lower carpark off Tuart Road and the access road on the eastern side of the school. If using the drive-through zones, please arrive from 8.15am to stagger the drive-through in the mornings and arrive just after 3pm when the pick-up line is flowing in the afternoon.
Oval Embankment
There has been a concern raised about children sliding down the embankment on the northern side of the oval, near the new housing, over the weekend. This may not have been our students. This area will be planted out by Identity WA in the coming week, so if you are using the oval over the weekend, please ensure the area is not used for sliding so the plants can be established.
Safety Alert
The access road on the eastern boundary of the school is one-way, at all times. Enter only from Verticordia Place, near the church, and exit only onto Tuart Road. One-way always, including school and OSHC pick-up and drop-off times.
Term Dates
Please refer to the school website for Term Dates, Pupil Free Days and the live School Calendar. This includes sacramental and key dates for the year.

24:7 YOUTH MINISTRY
TUESDAY 9TH JUNE
Last week at 24:7 Greenwood, we enjoyed a fantastic evening filled with games, faith, fellowship, and fun. The night began with a relaxed period of fellowship, where young people had the opportunity to connect with one another through activities such as soccer, card games, and table tennis. This provided a welcoming environment for everyone to catch up with friends, meet new people, and build stronger connections within the group.
The evening then moved into a series of energetic games, both of which, encouraged teamwork, communication, and plenty of laughter, creating an atmosphere of enthusiasm and engagement as participants worked together and enjoyed some friendly competition.
For the formation component of the night, we were excited to hear from one of our student leaders, Antonio, who delivered his first youth group talk. Antonio introduced the group to the life of St Francis of Assisi as part of our term theme, The Fruits and the Saints. Focusing on the Fruit of Peace, he shared key moments from St Francis’ life and explored how the saint became a powerful witness to peace through his humility, love for others, and commitment to following God's will.
Antonio encouraged the young people to reflect on the ways they can cultivate peace in their own lives, particularly through their relationships, daily choices, and trust in God. His presentation provided an inspiring example of how the virtues demonstrated by the saints can continue to guide and challenge us in our own faith journeys today.
The evening concluded with food, fellowship, and further opportunities for conversation, bringing another memorable youth group gathering to a close.
NEXT YOUTH GROUP
Next week at 24:7 Greenwood, we will continue exploring our term theme, The Fruits and the Saints, by looking at St Ignatius of Loyola and the Fruit of Self-Control. We are looking forward to welcoming a guest speaker who will share insights from his own life and reflect on how self-control has shaped his personal journey. Through his experiences, the young people will be encouraged to consider practical ways they can develop this important virtue and apply it within their own lives as they continue to grow in faith and character.
God Bless, Jesse & Lucy
