Christmas Nativity Prayer

O sweet Child of Bethlehem,
Grant that we may share with all our hearts in this profound mystery of Christmas. Put into the hearts
of men and women this peace for which they sometimes seek so desperately and which you alone can
give to them. Help them to know one another better, and to live as brothers and sisters, children of
the same Father. Reveal to them also your beauty, holiness and purity. Awaken in their hearts love
and gratitude for your infinite goodness. Join them all together in your love. And give us your
heavenly peace.

Amen

FROM THE PRINCIPAL

Dear Liwara Families,

Pre-Primary Nativity Concert – A Joyful Celebration
Congratulations to our Pre-Primary students for their outstanding Nativity Concert the third of four! The children captivated us with their heartfelt performances, reminding us of the true meaning of Christmas. Their confidence and enthusiasm were evident, and it was wonderful to see so many families filling the hall to support them. The clients of St John of God Hospital in Subiaco are eagerly awaiting the joy and wonder of Christmas presented by our talented Pre-Primary students next week.  This cherished annual tradition brings smiles, hope and festive spirit to the hospital community.

We are so proud of our little stars for sharing light and love through their performances. Thank you to our dedicated staff who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to make this event so special every year.

Safety First – Successful Evacuation Drill
We recently conducted our regular, planned evacuation drill, and we are proud to report that it was a resounding success. Our students and staff responded calmly and efficiently, demonstrating their understanding of safety procedures. These drills are an important part of ensuring the wellbeing of everyone in our school community, and we appreciate the cooperation shown by all involved.

Looking Ahead – Kindy and Pre-Kindy 2026 Information Sessions
Our Kindy and Pre-Kindy 2026 Parent Information Sessions were very well attended, and it was wonderful to meet so many new families who will soon become part of our Liwara community. These sessions provided valuable insights into our programs and gave parents the opportunity to ask questions and connect with staff. We look forward to welcoming these families in the 2026!

Annual Community Meeting & Family Picnic
What a fantastic evening we shared at our Annual Community Meeting and Family Picnic! The lively tunes of the Mucky Duck Bush Band created a joyful atmosphere as families gathered on the oval to enjoy good food, great music, and even better company. Events like these remind us of the strength and warmth of our Liwara community. Thank you to everyone who attended and contributed to making this event such a success.

Students Staying Focused
Even at this late stage of the year, our students continue to impress us with their commitment to learning. Their resilience and determination are evident in classrooms across the school, and we are so proud of the effort they are putting into finishing the year on a high note.

Sharing Joy Through Music – Choir Performances
Our talented choir is preparing to spread Christmas cheer beyond our school gates. They will be performing at the Bethanie Gwelup Aged Care Home bringing joy to residents, patients, and staff. These performances are a beautiful way for our students to share their gifts and live out our values of service and compassion.

Year 6 Sustainability Team – Learning Beyond the Classroom
We are thrilled to announce that our Year 6 Sustainability Team has been invited to a free tour of the Material Recovery Facility at Cleanaway in Joondalup next week. Mrs Tilka and I will be accompanying the students to the venue. This hands-on experience will deepen their understanding of recycling and sustainability, reinforcing the important role we all play in caring for our environment.

Thank You for Your Support
As we reflect on these wonderful events and achievements, we are reminded of how blessed we are to have such a supportive and engaged community. Thank you for walking alongside us on this journey. Together, we are finishing the year strong and looking forward to an exciting 2026!

CANTEEN NEWS

As there are now only two more weeks of the school canteen opening, we will begin the run down of certain menu items for this year.   This is so we can close down our freezers and canteen for the holidays.   We apologise in advance if your favourites are not available but assure you they will be back next year.

We are planning a few Christmas specials in the last week, so bring your spare change and see what surprises we have on offer.

There are still quite a few IOU notes outstanding, could you please arrange to have these paid as soon as possible.  We would like to have these all paid by the final week.   They can be paid at the office, at the canteen or on-line by ordering the same item, please leave a note in the comments section advising us that this is for an IOU.    Thank you in advance.

A big thank you for supporting us throughout the year by purchasing lunch and recess items, and to our helpful Year 6 students who have willingly offered to help us serve on busy days. You have all been amazing, best wishes and happiness to you at your new schools. Thank you also to the office staff who are always ready to lend us a hand on the very busy serving times.

We would also love to thank Mrs Millar who has been our biggest supporter of all the healthy meals and changes we have made over the past years.  Thank you and we hope you have a wonderful and enjoyable retirement. We will miss you and your happy and positive outlook with the Liwara Canteen.

We hope that everyone has a safe and wonderful holiday with family and friends.

A reminder that canteen orders need to be submitted online by 9.00am.  Check out the menu at https://www.liwara.wa.edu.au/wp-content/uploads/Canteen-Menu-Updated-15-July-2024.pdf - there is something for everyone to enjoy!!

If you’d like to get involved, we’d love to have you—please text Bianca at 0418 986 893 to sign up!

PARISH YOUTH MINISTRY NEWS

TUESDAY 25TH NOVEMBER

On Sunday, we welcomed fifteen young people to 24:7 Greenwood Youth Group for an evening of fellowship and faith formation. The night began with a series of engaging games, including Crossing the River Jordan, Action Telephone, and Head, Shoulders, Cup, all of which brought plenty of energy and laughter to the group.

We then heard from Gabriel Vorster, a former member of the youth group who also spent time serving in youth ministry. Gabe shared his testimony, speaking openly about his experiences with anxiety and negative thoughts, and how God has guided him through these challenges. He concluded by offering practical faith-based tips, including the importance of inviting Jesus into moments of unhelpful or overwhelming thoughts. His message was encouraging and relatable for the young people.

To finish the evening, we gathered together in prayer and shared a meal, strengthening both our spiritual and communal bonds.

NEXT YOUTH GROUP

This week, we will begin the evening with a Youth Volunteer Mass, in which our young people will assist in various roles. Following the Mass, youth group will feature a Nerf Night, aimed at creating a fun and welcoming environment that encourages participants to invite their friends. We will also hear from a guest speaker who will share their personal testimony of faith. We look forward to another meaningful and vibrant night together.

God bless,

Jesse and Lucy
