A Prayer for the Long Weekend
Heavenly Father,
We thank You for the gift of this long weekend —
a time to pause, to rest, and to be renewed in Your love.
Bless our families, friends, and all those we will meet.
Keep us safe in our travels, joyful in our gatherings,
and mindful of those who may be lonely or in need.
May this time be filled with peace,
our hearts lifted in gratitude for Your blessings,
and our minds refreshed for the days ahead.
Through Christ our Lord.
Amen

Dear Parents and Caregivers
Catholic Identity
Staff Retreat
Last week, our staff gathered at the Sisters of St John’s Retreat Centre in Shoalwater. Mario Borg, from 24/7 and our parish led an informative day on the meaning of the Mass. We also had a session on reflective prayer.
Parish Youth Group
Nurturing a connection with our parish is an important goal for us. Lucy Harris from our parish youth group visited to discuss our Year 6 students attending the parish youth group. The youth group runs every Sunday from 6.30-8.30pm for Year 6 to Year 12 students. Year 6 families, please see the flyer on SeeSaw for specific information.
Sacrament of Eucharist
Thank-you to all the Year 4 students and their families who attended the Commitment Mass for First Holy Communion. The parent-child workshop is on this Thursday 28th May at 5pm, at the parish centre. We look forward to seeing all the Year 4 candidates and their parents work together to deepen their understanding of the Sacrament of Eucharist.
Education Pillar
Year 6 Winter Lightning Carnival
Our Year 5 and 6 students attended Kingsway Reserve to participate in a variety of winter interschool team sports, with some beautiful winter weather. There were many opportunities for encouraging each other, persistence whilst demonstrating teamwork and sportspersonship.
National Simultaneous Storytime
National Simultaneous Storytime took place on Wednesday. Millions of Australians participate by reading the same book at the same time. The 2026 selected book is Luna Roo: The Kangaroo Baller, written by Adam Jackson and Adrian Lloyd and illustrated by Jake Minton. Thank-you to Sam Clarke for coordinating our participation, activities and the library display. Drop in to have a look.
RU Legal Incursion
Our Year 5 and 6 students participated in a RU Legal incursion, presented by Legal Aid. Topics covered the legal process, police supporting the community to be safe and cyberbullying. Students had the opportunity to ask questions. A parent session followed after school. Thank-you to the parents who attended; they had the opportunity to engage with the content presented during the incursion and ask questions to be able to facilitate further conversations with their children.
Community Pillar
National Reconciliation Week
National Reconciliation Week takes place every year between May 27 and June 3 and this year’s theme is ‘All In’. These dates commemorate two important events in the journey of reconciliation: the 1967 referendum and the High Court’s Mabo decision. This year’s theme, ‘All In’, is a call for all Australians to commit to reconciliation every single day. Reconciliation requires all of us to do our part, every day. Activities were available for students to participate in during the week.
Fair Game – Inspiring Healthy Communities
Many thanks to the Liwara community for donating 275 items of sporting equipment. Fair Game has now delivered this equipment to families with children who might otherwise be unable to participate in club sport. Thank-you to Ciaran Sanders for coordinating the donation drive for this fabulous cause.

Stewardship Pillar
Bunnings Sensory Garden Renovation
We extend our sincere thanks to Bunnings Balcatta for their generous donation of plants that have helped bring our Sensory Garden to life. We are especially grateful to Kirsten, who coordinated this wonderful partnership, and to Doug, who spent time with our Year Six Sustainability Leaders, guiding them through the planting process. This project has been a meaningful way for our students to live out the message of Laudato Si’, deepening their understanding of caring for our common home while contributing to a space that will support wellbeing and connection with nature for years to come. Many thanks to Pia Tilka for organising this great initiative. We look forward to seeing the new plants grow and fill the sensory garden.
Well-being: Flourish and Grow
Last week during the professional development days, the CEWA Wellbeing team worked with our staff to lead an inquiry based on the CEWA Wellbeing Framework and the Liwara values of Respect, Trust, Faith and Mercy.

24:7 YOUTH MINISTRY
TUESDAY 9TH JUNE
Last week at 24:7 Greenwood, we enjoyed a fantastic evening filled with games, faith, fellowship, and fun. The night began with a relaxed period of fellowship, where young people had the opportunity to connect with one another through activities such as soccer, card games, and table tennis. This provided a welcoming environment for everyone to catch up with friends, meet new people, and build stronger connections within the group.
The evening then moved into a series of energetic games, both of which, encouraged teamwork, communication, and plenty of laughter, creating an atmosphere of enthusiasm and engagement as participants worked together and enjoyed some friendly competition.
For the formation component of the night, we were excited to hear from one of our student leaders, Antonio, who delivered his first youth group talk. Antonio introduced the group to the life of St Francis of Assisi as part of our term theme, The Fruits and the Saints. Focusing on the Fruit of Peace, he shared key moments from St Francis’ life and explored how the saint became a powerful witness to peace through his humility, love for others, and commitment to following God's will.
Antonio encouraged the young people to reflect on the ways they can cultivate peace in their own lives, particularly through their relationships, daily choices, and trust in God. His presentation provided an inspiring example of how the virtues demonstrated by the saints can continue to guide and challenge us in our own faith journeys today.
The evening concluded with food, fellowship, and further opportunities for conversation, bringing another memorable youth group gathering to a close.
NEXT YOUTH GROUP
Next week at 24:7 Greenwood, we will continue exploring our term theme, The Fruits and the Saints, by looking at St Ignatius of Loyola and the Fruit of Self-Control. We are looking forward to welcoming a guest speaker who will share insights from his own life and reflect on how self-control has shaped his personal journey. Through his experiences, the young people will be encouraged to consider practical ways they can develop this important virtue and apply it within their own lives as they continue to grow in faith and character.
God Bless, Jesse & Lucy
