On Saturday evening and Sunday morning most of our Year Six students received the Sacrament of Confirmation. It was lovely to see the students so reverent and respectful. I would like to thank our Year Six teachers, Mrs McCabe and Mr Vine, for preparing the celebration and to Miss Mandry and our wonderful choir children for helping us celebrate at Sunday’s Mass. Students will receive their certificates at all Masses this coming weekend.

Learning Journey
We had an outstanding turn out from parents, grandparents and other family members for our school Learning Journey Afternoon. As I walked around the school, I was truly amazed at the effort that was clearly on display in every single classroom. I would like to thank all our staff members for their efforts and also to the students for all of their wonderful efforts.
Early Childhood Athletics Carnival
What a wonderful afternoon we had on Tuesday to showcase our Kindy and Pre-Primary athletic talents. I could tell that the students had been practising their team games! Thank you to Mr Sanders, Mr McGilloway and our Kindy and Pre-Primary staff for organising the afternoon and thank you to our parents for your support.
Postponed Athletics Carnival
Unfortunately, we have had to postpone our School Athletics Carnival that was to take place today to Monday 21 September due to forecasted inclement weather. We still hope to see many parents supporting their children on Monday.
Catholic Performing Arts Festival
The Catholic Performing Arts Festival concluded on Tuesday evening with a wonderful finale showcasing the many outstanding talents across many CEWA schools. I have received the last of the certificates, see below:

Puzzle Club
Our Puzzle Club students are preparing themselves for the Interschool Puzzle Club State Championships on Tuesday 22 September. Thank you to Mrs McCabe and Mrs Sparkes for volunteering their time each Monday afternoon. I’m looking forward to hearing how they go!

Liwara Digital Museum
The launch of the Liwara Digital Museum is a wonderful celebration of our school's rich history and the dedication of staff who have worked tirelessly to bring this vision to life. What began as Andrea Millar's dream to create a place where "the beautiful school has its history out there for all to read about" has become a reality through the combined efforts of Andrea Millar, Gaye Margetic and Amanda McCabe. Andrea's commitment to "leave a legacy" for future generations inspired the project, while Gaye laid important foundations through earlier website development work. Amanda's expertise and creativity helped transform the vision into the engaging digital experience we can now share with our community. Their collaboration, perseverance and belief in preserving Liwara's story have created a lasting resource that honours our past, celebrates our present and inspires future generations. CSPA 2026 Parent/Caregiver Survey on Student Wellbeing and Learning
Our school has been asked to circulate the information below regarding the Catholic School Parents Australia (CSPA) 2026 Parent Survey on Student Wellbeing and Learning, that is being conducted by CSPA and the University of New England. The CSPA Parent Survey on Student Wellbeing and Learning is interested in the perspectives of parents/carers of one or more children who attend a Catholic School in Australia. Parents/carers who would like to share their views on existing and emerging concerns and interests they may have in relations to their child/children's wellbeing and learning are invited to consider completing this anonymous, confidential, and completely voluntary online survey. Leave of Absence Form
As you may be aware, families who take their child/ren out of school during term time need to complete a Leave of Absence Form prior to any absence. This form can be completed at the front office or a copy can be emailed for your completion.

ENROLMENTS FOR CHILDREN IN KINDY 2028 AND PRE KINDY 2027
We have a limited number of places available for 2026 across selected year levels. We encourage you to contact our Enrolment Officer as soon as possible to discuss the enrolment process, as we are currently meeting with both prospective and current families regarding 2027 Pre Kindy placements.
We have completed our 2027 Kindy interviews and we have a waitlist. Applications for Kindy 2028 are now open for children born between 1 July 2023 and 30 June 2024, and we invite families to submit their application promptly.
If you are aware that your child will not be returning in 2027, can you please advise the front office in writing ASAP.
Please note that Kindy runs on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, while Pre Kindy is held on Thursday and Friday.

2027 CLASS PLACEMENT REQUESTS
Next term, teachers will be compiling class groupings for 2027. Teachers consider several factors when placing students in classes. The children’s best interests in our educational setting are the main priority. Students also get the opportunity to list classmates they work well with and would like to have in their class. We aim to ensure that at least one child from the list will be in the class for 2027.
If you have a valid class placement request (see criteria below), please complete this form: Class Placement Request - 2027. The form will be open to accept responses until Monday, 26 October. Requests cannot be made after this date. Please understand that not all requests can be accommodated.
Valid requests:
- Separating or keeping twins together.
- Providing insights into your own child’s personality or learning needs/style.
- Respectfully providing the school with insight into relationship issues a child may have with another student.
The following requests will not be considered:
- a) Requests for a particular teacher will not be considered as staffing is not finalised.
- b) Requests for a child to be in a class with a particular student will not be considered.

ELC Athletics Carnival
A huge thank you to Mr Sanders for his hard work and dedication behind the scenes in preparing for our annual ELC Athletics Carnival, held on Tuesday, 15 September. It was wonderful to see all students participating with enthusiasm and demonstrating outstanding sportsmanship throughout the day.
Puzzle Championships
Our Liwara Puzzle Team will proudly represent the school at the Interschool Puzzle Championships at Shenton College in Week 10. We extend our sincere thanks to Mrs McCabe and Mrs Sparkes for their support, encouragement and guidance of the students.
End of Term Mass
Our Year 4 students will lead the End of Term Mass on Friday, 25 September at 9.00am. Mercy Awards will also be presented at this Mass. Families and community members are warmly invited to join us for this special celebration.
CPAF Awards
Students who have been recognised for their outstanding CPAF performance will be presented with their certificates at our next Certificate Assembly on Friday, 23 October. We congratulate these students on their achievement and look forward to celebrating their success with the school community.

CANTEEN NEWS
Next week we will be sending home our End of Term outstanding IOU’s. If you receive one of these could you please pay these as soon possible so we may close off for the term. Payment can be made through the school office, or cash at the Canteen or by placing an order on line for the amount owing, with a note in the instructions area advising it is for an IOU only.
Whilst we will do our best to have all the options available until next Friday, there are some items that may run out of stock. We will have these available again in Term 4. We apologise for not having the chocolattes milks from Bannister Downs, but it has been out of our control while they await the arrival of the sachets.
As Sports day has now been moved to Monday, our Monday menu will be covered by the Fridays orders for Sausage Sizzles, so no additional items or recess will be available.
Last Thursday was RUOK day a very important day to recognize. The canteen provided Banana muffins and a Custard cup, which was very popular and a sell out.
Have a safe and relaxing school holiday. Thank you for supporting the canteen.

CHILDREN'S LITURGY VOLUNTEERS - PARENT HELPERS NEEDED
We're seeking parent volunteers to join our All Saints Greenwood parish children’s liturgy team! We need extra helpers to support our group leaders in supervising young children during the Sunday 9:30am Mass children’s liturgy sessions. Typically, we ask for a commitment of just one Sunday per term. Volunteers will need to secure a Working With Children check, and we’re happy to assist you with the process. 24:7 YOUTH MINISTRY
TUESDAY 15TH SEPTEMBER
Last week at 24:7 Greenwood, we enjoyed a wonderful evening of games, fellowship, food and faith, welcoming the young people for our Encounter Night as we brought our Term 3 theme to a close. The evening began with a relaxed time of fellowship, giving the young people an opportunity to connect with one another and enjoy some fun and conversation before moving into a range of engaging group activities. These activities encouraged participation, interaction and teamwork, creating a lively and welcoming atmosphere throughout the first part of the evening.
Following the games and fellowship, the young people moved into the Church for our Encounter Night. We were particularly blessed to welcome Sr Berna from the Missionaries of God’s Love, who led our faith formation session. Sr Berna explored the final sections of the Nicene Creed, helping the young people to unpack the meaning behind these statements and develop a deeper understanding of the teachings of the Catholic faith. The session provided an opportunity for the young people to consider not only what we profess when we recite the Creed, but also how these beliefs shape and influence the way we live out our faith.
The evening then moved into a time of personal reflection and prayer. The young people were given an opportunity to reflect on what they had heard and to consider the areas of their own lives in which they may need God’s guidance, strength or help. They were encouraged to write their own personal prayers to God, creating a meaningful and prayerful conclusion to the evening. This provided a valuable opportunity for the young people to slow down, engage personally with God and reflect on how they can continue to grow in their relationship with Him.
NEXT YOUTH GROUP
Our next Youth Group will be held this Sunday and will be a Games Night, providing a fun and relaxed opportunity for the young people to spend time together following last weekend’s Encounter Night and the conclusion of our Term 3 theme. The evening will focus on fellowship, friendship and community, giving everyone an opportunity to unwind, enjoy themselves and continue strengthening the relationships that have developed throughout the term.

Enrolments for the October and summer school holiday VacSwim programs are now open.

VacSwim programs give children from 5 to 17 years of age across Western Australia the skills to stay safe and build their confidence in the water.
We offer a variety of programs for your child:
- that range from 5 to 10 days in length
- in pool or calm water environments and at surf centres.
We hold lessons in more than 175 locations at pools and beaches around the state.
With help from friendly and qualified swimming instructors, your child can progress through stages 1 to 16, including achieving their Bronze Medallion.
North Coast Tri Club's TRYstars programs are back for term 4.
We have 3 programs to offer.
TRYstars Hillarys
The original! 8 weeks of triathlon action alternating between Hillarys Harbour beach and Mawson park. Session time is 5:30 to 6:30pm with Coach Madi.

This is the next step up! Do your kids want a challenge? Here it is! 8 weeks of more serious triathlon TRAINING, set over 2 afternoons per week. Where? Hillarys harbour beach for the swim, Mitchell Freeway bike path for the bike, and Mawson park Hillarys for the run. Training days are Tuesday for the run, and Fridays alternate swim and bike. All session times are 4:30 to 5:30pm. Coaches Bill, Meg and Willow are looking forward to developing your athletes to the next level.
