Our Leadership Team

From the Principal's Desk

Dear Parents and Caregivers,

We come together to celebrate Harmony Day on Monday 21 March. This special day was created in 1999 to celebrate unity and diversity.  harmony Day is celebrated worldwide by reflecting on the ways we can live in harmony with our neighbours, regardless of their background or circumstance.  Since Harmony Day was first initiated there have been over 55,000 events held.  Our HASS coordinators, Mrs Andrea Rattray and Mrs Andrea Shilkin,  have planned some wonderful activities to mark this celebration. The students are asked to wear orange accessories. Each class will be participating in a special activity to mark this celebration.

Making Jesus Real

As part of Making Jesus Real, we focus on the many great things that constantly go on around us. The teachers spend time with the students looking at the God Moments they see, which are often focused around nature and Spirit of Jesus Moments, which are more focused on where we see the actions that Jesus modelled for us. Autumn is a perfect time to find God Moments occurring all around us as the seasons and weather change.

International Day of Happiness

Sunday March 20th is International Day of Happiness! This is a perfect reminder in our busy lives to focus on the positives in life. One easy was to do this is to remember that positive, happy and funny posts are shared far more online that negative ones (https://nationaltoday.com/international-day-happiness/#why-we-love)

On Wednesday, 23rd of March 2022, students across the globe will battle it out to discover who is the world’s strongest mathlete. It runs for 48 hours to cover all global time zones. On this day, millions of students across the world compete in Live Mathletics challenges to determine a global winner, while also participating in fun activities that highlight the wonder of numbers.
All Liwara students from Pre Primary have been enrolled and are welcome to take part in the challenge.  All children have free access to Mathletics at home and at school.

Visual Arts - Sneek a Peek in the Art Room

This term in Visual Arts many of our students have been exploring clay work and developing skills required to construct simple sculptures.

Year Ones created pet snails from coils of clay and the Year Twos formed pinch pots to create ladybirds.

Year Three and Four students have just finished their project... sunflower sculptures. Everyone passing through the Art Room have been captivated by this work and given them compliments.

These flowers will now all be packed safely away in readiness for the possibility of Liwara hosting its very first Art Exhibition at the end of 2022.

I can't wait to see what students will produce next. Exciting times!

REACH

Our Gifted & Talented Program is called REACH which is an acronym for - Reasoning Endeavour Analysing Challenging Higher Order Thinking

In Reach we have been learning about and researching different people that are inspiring. We discovered how passionate Malala Yousafzaiis is about girls receiving an education. How Junko Tabei’s dedication led her to be the first woman to climb Mount Everest and then she went on to climb the highest mountains in every continent. To display their information some students completed a pic collage, others have made an iMovie, Minecraft portraits and PowerPoints. The Year 6’s have been working on the Synergy Solar Challenge, they have been building a solar car and investigating different ways to build the fastest solar powered car using the equipment provided by Synergy.
