Need some ideas to keep you entertained?

The Scribe Tribe has put together some fun and relaxing activities to keep you busy these summer holidays!

Beach Activities- Cora

Just imagine, the soft, golden sand, the blue ocean water, and so much to do! The beach. Lots of things come to mind when those words escape a mouth, like waves, sand or water. But, there is a lot more to a beach then its lovely looks. There is an almost never-ending list of things to do at the beach, and I’m going to name just a few. First up, beach volleyball. Playing with friends or family members, this sport can create hours of never-ending fun. Next up, swimming. Getting wet on a hot day, and gliding through the water, always feels amazing! Also, if water is not your thing, why not try having a sandcastle building competition! There are so many creative designs you can make, and the best bit is at the end, when you crash your building down! So, if you’re bored, and feel like you need something fun to do during the holidays, these are some very active, family friendly, and fun things to do at the beach.

7 Tips to Stay Cool in Summertime- Marcella

• Put your clothes in the freezer for tomorrow (It might sound crazy, but it really works)
• Go to the beach or swim in the pool often
• Put your water bottle in the freezer
• Wear a hat and sun cream
• Have cold showers (as cold as you can take it)
• Make paper fans (by folding paper back and forth), put on the fan and air conditioning
• If you have long hair, put it up in a ponytail or a bun

These things may not sound like much but if you follow these, summer will not be so miserably humid and hot!

Riddles and Jokes- Aidan

Be Generous- Stella

This is all about how you can be generous on the holidays. Firstly, you can give something to your neighbours, friends or family to show you care. Baked goods are a good idea, and it is a good time to brush up on your cooking skills. Another way to be compassionate is buying things from an Op Shop, especially ones which give their proceeds to charities. Most of these shops have interesting things you usually can’t find anywhere else, and plus, all your money is going towards people needing it. There are also small acts you can do, like giving encouragement or even a compliment to someone who needs to hear it. Here are some other things you can do: make a meal, clean up, help with groceries, make a Christmas card.

Places to Go- Flynn

1. The first one you might fancy has some beautiful animals and some great food! You might have guessed it… the Perth Zoo! Where all your wildest dreams can come true, maybe have a roar with the lions or some stomping with the elephants because this is the great place to be. You’ll find some hot tasty food and some cold creamy ice cream that you can enjoy.
2. Adventure World… this is a good place with rides and water slides all to use, there are some scary one’s too so watch out!
3. Kings Park is a nice place to go where you can go for great picnics. There are many places to go in Kings Park and great hiking trails, see some monuments on the way, like the brave soldiers that put their lives in front of ours to save our great country.

Baking- Charlotte

As summer has just arrived, the weather is definitely getting hotter and sweatier. To keep cool this summer, why not refresh yourself with some of these cool and easy snacks!

 Lemon/Lime Popsicles

Ingredients: 1 cup plain Greek yoghurt, 1 banana, ¼ cup fresh lemon or lime juice, 1 tsp lemon or lime zest, 2 tbsp honey, ½ tsp vanilla extract.

Method: Simply combine all ingredients for the desired popsicle you choose in a blender, until smooth. Pour the mixture into popsicle moulds, leaving spaces at the top to expand. Insert a stick into each popsicle, and remove until popsicle is hard (at least 4 hours wait.) Then run the mould under warm water to loosen it up, then enjoy!

 Fruit Pizza

Slice a watermelon in half, and then into a small thin circle shape. That is the base of the pizza.
Then, lightly spread Greek plain yoghurt on top of the watermelon until smooth. Add strawberries, blueberries, grapes, apple or any fruit you desire. Then enjoy!
