Prayer

Loving God,
We thank You for the blessings, challenges, and lessons of this term.
We praise You for the talents shared
and the growth that has taken place both inside and outside the classroom.

As we reflect on the reports being shared,
we ask for Your grace to receive them with open hearts.
Help us to see the effort that was made, celebrate the successes,
and gently embrace the areas where we can still grow and learn.
Remind us that a report does not define our whole worth,
but is simply a tool to guide us on our journey.

Grant rest and restoration to the weary,
peace to the anxious, and joy in what has been accomplished.
Watch over students,  families and staff as we step into this new semester,
and guide our paths ahead.

In Your holy name, we pray.

Amen

FROM THE PRINCIPAL

Dear Parents and Caregivers

Catholic Identity

Sacrament of Eucharist

Congratulations to our Year Four students who made their First Holy Communion at the parish masses over the last two weekends. We hope they are moved by receiving the final Sacrament of Initiation and they enjoyed their family celebrations. Our candidates will receive their certificates at the parish Masses this weekend.

2026 Census

The Australian Bureau of Statistics will be conducting the five-yearly national Census of Population and Housing on Tuesday, 11 August 2026. One key question that is optional asks Australians to identify their religion. For Catholics, this question is crucial to helping Catholic parishes, schools, dioceses, and organisations understand their communities. Please refer to the Media Release from the Australian Catholic Bishops Conference encouraging Catholics to identify themselves in the Census.  For further information please click on this link:  Media Release

Education Pillar

Mid-Year Reports

Mid-Year Reports will be available to parents and carers on SEQTA today. There have been some changes to the way we are required to report by the School Curriculum Standard Authority, including reporting one overall grade for each learning area rather than a grade for each strand and an overall grade. Specific information about the changes was sent to you via SeeSaw earlier this week.

When reading your child’s report, it is important to acknowledge the holistic growth, including academic marks, effort ratings, and personal and social management ratings. Acknowledge and celebrate your child's achievements, (regardless of the size). Praise their hard work, determination, and progress. Set a realistic growth goal for next semester that you can break down into small, achievable steps to celebrate throughout the journey, so motivation is maintained. Thank you for your continued support and partnership in your child's education. Together, we can help them achieve great things and foster a lifelong love for learning.

Edu-Dance Program

The dance concert was a pinnacle of the creative arts learning the students from Pre-primary to Year Six have undertaken this term. The showcase was fabulous, with entertaining items, engaging transitions, and students displaying their joy and determination to perform, even when it was outside their comfort zone.

Music Performance Assembly

Congratulations to our instrumental music students who entertained us all with a variety of acts, showcasing their talent and commitment to learning their chosen instruments. Thank-you to Mary Rose and the music tutors for their contribution to our students.

Interschool Cross Country

Last week, our Interschool Cross Country Team, proudly represented our school, at Mawson Park. We place first in B-Division, with a terrific display of reliance, commitment to personal best times and encouragement of others.  Thank you to all our runners, and to Mr Sanders, Miss Neri, and Miss Carter for their support in helping our team succeed.

Year 2 Performance Assembly

Congratulations to our Year 2 students on their entertaining assembly item on Fairy Tales with a twist! The talented actors and support crew delivered an outstanding performance. Congratulations to all the students and the Year Two staff on creating a delightful script.

NAIDOC Week

NAIDOC Week will be officially celebrated in the holidays. Since 1975, NAIDOC Week has been held every year to celebrate and elevate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander voices, culture and resilience. This year marks 50 years of celebrating the people who built NAIDOC Week, the stories that have been shared, the culture that has been celebrated, and the leadership that has inspired. Thank-you to our Gecko’s Team, Ms Bodeker, Mrs Carberry, Mrs Geneve, Mrs Kerai, Mr McGilloway and Mrs Van Rullen, who have organised a variety of engaging activities promoting Aboriginal perspectives in education, for next week and the first week of next term. Thank-you also to Mrs Clark for presenting a terrific NAIDOC library display.

Community Pillar

Digital Technology

As well as being powerful learning tools, iPads and devices are often used by students in their own time at home for entertainment. The holidays is a good time to revisit the balanced use of technology and participation in non-digital activities to promote their health and wellbeing.  Please talk to your children about balanced use of IT and ensuring that it is used at appropriate times. There is no substitute for open communication and supervision when assisting your child to use technology responsibly.

Stewardship Pillar

Carpark Reminders

Accessible car bays are for ACROD Permit Holders only. Please do not park in these bays, even for a short time, if you do not have a permit, so the bays are available for Liwara community members who regularly do school drop-off and pick-up and have Acrod permits. Thank-you for respecting these permit holders.

The access road on the eastern boundary of the school is one-way at all times. Enter only from Verticordia Place, near the church, and exit only onto Tuart Road. The laneway is always one-way, including during school and OSHC pick-up and drop-off times.

As we approach the end of the school term, I would like to take a moment to acknowledge the incredible effort and dedication your children have demonstrated throughout the semester. Their perseverance has been commendable, and I believe it is essential to motivate them to finish this term with pride and maintain high standards until the very end. Encouraging your child to give their best until the last day of school not only fosters a sense of accomplishment but also instils valuable life skills such as resilience, discipline, and perseverance.

INTERSCHOOL CROSS COUNTRY

The interschool cross country squad made the most of a beautiful sunny day as they represented the school with flying colours on Friday, 19 June. The runners pushed themselves to finish each race as high as possible, helping the school secure the Division B title again! It was fantastic to see the students striving to achieve their very best, with some impressive top ten results and two finishing in 1st place. Well done to everyone on your amazing achievement!

Thank you so much to the parents who supported in the lead-up and assisted on the day. It was wonderful to have you help with the setup and pack down, and to cheer on the students along the course. We truly appreciate it!

CANTEEN NEWS

Canteen Volunteers Wanted!

The Liwara Canteen is looking for 2–3 regular parent volunteers to help on Fridays (11.30 am–12.30 pm), 2 hours max.  No experience required—just a willingness to complete a free Food Handling course.

It’s a fantastic way to support our school and our students. We’d love to welcome you!

If you are interested, please contact the canteen and they will be able to provide you with a unique code for the training.

This week we have sent home our End of Term outstanding IOU’s. If you have received one of these, could you please pay these as soon possible so we may close off for the term.  Payment can be made through the school office, or cash at the Canteen or by placing an order online for the amount owing, with a note in the instructions area advising it is for an IOU only.

Whilst we will do our best to have all the options available until next Friday, there are some items that may run out of stock.   We will have these available again in Term 3.    We apologise for not having the chocolates milks from Bannister Downs, but it has been out of our control while they await the arrival of the sachets.    Hopefully these will be ready for Term 3 also.

Have a safe and relaxing school holiday.

24:7 YOUTH MINISTRY

TUESDAY 23RD JUNE

Last week at 24:7 Greenwood, our young people enjoyed a fun and engaging Trivia Night, providing a great opportunity for friendly competition, teamwork, and fellowship. The evening began with a relaxed social period, where participants enjoyed board games, table tennis, and time to connect with one another before the main activity commenced. This created a welcoming atmosphere and allowed everyone to settle in and enjoy each other's company.

The highlight of the night was the trivia competition, which featured a variety of rounds designed to challenge participants' knowledge across different areas. The quiz commenced with two rounds of general knowledge, encouraging teams to work together and test their understanding of a broad range of topics. This was followed by a special round focused on content covered throughout Terms 1 and 2, providing an opportunity for the young people to reflect on and recall key themes and lessons explored during youth group over the past six months. The final round centred on music, generating plenty of excitement as participants identified songs and artists while competing for valuable points.

Throughout the evening, there was a strong sense of enthusiasm and camaraderie, with teams demonstrating excellent collaboration and engagement. The trivia format encouraged participation from everyone and created many memorable moments of laughter and friendly rivalry.

The night concluded with the announcement of the winning team, recognising their impressive efforts and knowledge throughout the competition. We also took the opportunity to celebrate the birthdays of three of our youth leaders, acknowledging their contribution to the ministry and sharing in this special occasion together as a community.

Overall, the evening was a wonderful blend of fun, fellowship, and learning, strengthening the connections within our youth group and providing an enjoyable experience for all who attended.

NEXT YOUTH GROUP

This week, we will gather for our Youth Volunteer Mass during the 5:30pm parish Mass. This is a valuable opportunity for our young people and leaders to actively participate in the liturgy by serving in a variety of ministries and roles throughout the celebration. Through their involvement, our youth will continue to grow in confidence, deepen their faith, and contribute meaningfully to the life of the parish community.

Following the Mass, we will continue our term theme, Fruits and the Saints. One of our youth leaders will present a reflection on the Blessed Virgin Mary and the way she exemplified the fruit of gentleness through her humility, obedience, and trust in God. The talk will explore how Mary's example can inspire us in our own faith journey and provide practical ways to cultivate gentleness in our daily interactions with others.

God Bless, Jesse & Lucy
