Prayer for World Peace

O Lord God,

We pray for Peace and Love
In all the nations among all the people
that all wars and hatred will end.
We pray for those who suffer from
war, injustice and intolerance.
For the children, young people, the poor and
neglected ones.
We pray for peace in our life, lands, nations,
families and the world.
We ask your mercy in the name of our Lord
Jesus Christ.

Amen

FROM THE PRINCIPAL

Dear Parents and Caregivers

SACRAMENT OF HOLY COMMUNION
We extend our heartfelt congratulations to all our students who have recently received the sacrament of Holy Communion.  This is a significant milestone, and we are proud of each one of you.

STATE JIGSAW PUZZLE COMPETITION
We are thrilled to announce our students participation in the State Jigsaw Puzzle Competition on Saturday, 21 June at the Claremont Showgrounds.  Our Liwara Team consisted of Emmet Hang and Adam Brocklesby from 6R, Poppy Varga 5R and Sam Davini from 4G.  Their dedication and teamwork are truly commendable.

Picture 4

The school teams were given 2 hours to complete their 500-piece puzzle, unseen, till a few minutes before the competition began.  Our students came in 4th place with a time of 1 hour, 11 minutes and 37 seconds (taking 10 minutes off their PB!) I heard rumours about a parent team getting together next year as the buzz and excitement in the pavilion was contagious!

The Liwara Team formed from a larger group of students who have been puzzling enthusiastically after school most of this year with Mrs Amanda McCabe and was supported by families, at the inaugural Family Puzzle Afternoon on Sunday, 25 May.  The involvement by so many families made the event a great success!

DANCE CONCERT
We are all extremely excited about our upcoming dance concerts which will be held on Wednesday, 2 July at 1.30pm for Green classes and 2.20pm for Red classes, which promises to be a spectacular showcase of our students’ talent and hard work.  The students have been working hard during rehearsals, perfecting their routines and building confidence.  There has been fantastic participation, and the students have been enthusiastically preparing for the concert.  Keep up the great work everyone!

We look forward to seeing you at the Dance Concert and celebrating our students’ achievements together.  Thank you for your continued support! Together, we can continue to make Liwara Catholic Primary School a place where every child thrives.

END OF TERM TWO
As we move forward towards the end of Term Two (Friday, 4 July), we look forward to the many opportunities ahead and the continued growth of our students in their own well-being and learning. Let us celebrate the small steps our students take on their individual journeys, both in the classroom and in their everyday lives. May you all have a beautiful weekend.

CLASSROOM NEWS

YEAR 4 NEWS

Year 4 has had an incredibly busy and rewarding term! One of the highlights was receiving the Sacrament of First Holy Communion, a very special moment in our faith journey. We also deepened our understanding of the Mysteries of the Rosary and what they mean in our daily lives. In Mathematics, students have been exploring fractions, including equivalent fractions, mixed numbers, and how to accurately order them on a number line. There has been a real buzz of enthusiasm as students developed their confidence in tackling challenging fraction problems.

In our Inquiry unit, students chose an African animal to investigate in depth. They researched its physical characteristics, diet, natural habitat, and the biomes in which it lives. They mapped its location, created an informative PowerPoint presentation, and brought their learning to life by designing a 3D world using Minecraft Education. These worlds demonstrated their understanding of the animal’s environment, predators, and survival needs. Through this process, students learned how to gather information from a variety of sources and strengthened their speaking and listening skills, during formal presentations. It’s been a term full of discovery, creativity, and growth—and now we’re all looking forward to a well-earned holiday!

INTERSCHOOL CROSS COUNTRY CARNIVAL

The interschool cross country squad put the postponement behind them and enjoyed a wonderful carnival day on Tuesday, 24 June. The runners pushed themselves to finish each race as strongly as possible with some outstanding individual performances. It was great to see the students striving to achieve their very best. Well done to everyone on helping the school finish 11th in division A which will see us return to division B next year.

Thank you so much to the parents who supported in the lead up and assisted on the day. It was great to have you in the setup, pack down and cheer on the students along the course. We really appreciate it!

CHILDREN'S LITURGY VOLUNTEERS - PARENT HELPERS NEEDED

We're seeking parent volunteers to join our All Saints Greenwood parish children’s liturgy team! We need extra helpers to support our group leaders in supervising young children during the Sunday 9:30am Mass children’s liturgy sessions. Typically, we ask for a commitment of just one Sunday per term. Volunteers will need to secure a Working With Children check, and we’re happy to assist you with the process. If you’d like to get involved, we’d love to have you—please text Bianca at 0418 986 893 to sign up!

RITE OF CHRISTIAN INITIATION OF ADULTS

PARISH YOUTH MINISTRY NEWS

TUESDAY 24TH JUNE

Last week at 24:7 Greenwood, we had an incredible night filled with games, fun, and meaningful faith formation! We kicked things off with some time for fellowship, giving everyone a chance to reconnect and catch up. From there, we jumped into our first game of the night: Continuous Dodgeball, followed by a round of Cross the River—both high-energy and team-focused games that got everyone involved and having a blast.

Our faith input for the evening was delivered by one of our amazing volunteer leaders, Eilidh, who shared a powerful talk on “Finding Freedom through the Sacraments.” She walked us through each of the Sacraments, exploring their meaning, their importance, and how each one can lead us to deeper freedom and life in Christ. It was an insightful and inspiring message that really resonated with the group.

NEXT YOUTH GROUP

This week, we’ll be concluding our term theme, “Freedom in Christ,” with a powerful Encounter Night. This special evening will include an inspiring talk to help the youth reflect on the freedom Christ offers, as well as the opportunity to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation—a meaningful chance to encounter God’s mercy and grace in a personal way.

It promises to be a beautiful and faith-filled night, and we encourage all young people to come with open hearts, ready to engage and receive.

God bless,

Jesse and Lucy
