Holy Thursday Prayer
Glory and praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ, for sharing yourself with your apostles at the Last Supper and for giving your love to us at this meal. Give us grateful hearts for the life you poured out for us, for the suffering that takes our sin away. Glory and praise to you, Lord, both now and forever.
Amen

FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Dear Parents and Caregivers
Catholic Identity
Holy Week
Today is Holy Thursday, marking the beginning of the three-day celebration of the Lord's death and resurrection. It begins on Holy Thursday “with the evening Mass of the Lord's Supper, reaches its high point in the Easter Vigil, and closes with evening prayer on Easter Sunday” (Roman Calendar, no. 19). Easter is the most important celebration in the Christian calendar.
Throughout this week, various classes have presented Easter liturgies in the hall, sharing the Holy Week stories as the season of Lent concludes ahead of Good Friday.
CEWA Easter Colouring-in Competition
Congratulations to Stanley in Pre-Kindy and Liv in Pre-Primary, who were prize winners in their year‑level categories in the statewide Catholic Education Easter Colouring-in Competition, which received over 3000 entries. Thank you to Mrs Clark for coordinating our school entries.
Education Pillar
Swimming Carnival
Last week, we hosted the Liwara Swimming Carnival for students in Years Four to Six. We were blessed with beautiful weather and a wonderful sense of school spirit. Congratulations to all students who participated so enthusiastically throughout the day and well done to Boree Faction for taking out the win and to all the students who won championship medals.
A huge thank you to Mr Sanders for the many hours of preparation that ensured the day ran so smoothly. Thank you also to the parent helpers and Liwara staff for your energy and dedication in supporting our students.
Executive Visit
On Tuesday, we had the pleasure in hosting Annette Morey, Executive Director of Catholic Education. Mrs Morey joined us for the Easter liturgy, toured the school to meet students and joined the staff for morning tea.
Community Pillar
P and F Easter Raffle
The P&F Easter Raffle was a great success. Thanks to the generous donations from our Liwara community, 105 prizes were created, and over $3000 was raised. Thank you to everyone who contributed and supported this event, especially the P and F coordinators Alana and Sarah for the hours of collecting donations, coordinating ticket sales and preparing prizes.
Stewardship Pillar
Staffing News
Last week, we welcomed our new Finance Officer, Mrs Kirsten Staples. Kirsten is currently undertaking training with the support of Caroline Hunneybun, who you may also see in the office. We are delighted to have Kirsten join our administration team.
This week, we farewell Mrs Jieun Park, our Pre-Primary Green Education Assistant. We thank Jieun for her contribution to Liwara and wish her every blessing for the future. Next term, we welcome Mrs Jo-anne Deib, an experienced Education Assistant from a neighbouring Catholic school. Please join me in making her feel welcome.
For Term Two, Mrs Karen Weston will reduce her workdays for balance as she continues to journey back to full health. Karen will work on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday in Year 3 Red and Mrs Andrea Rattray will work on Thursday and Friday. Andrea is a long-standing Liwara staff member with extensive experience. She will work collaboratively with Mrs Weston and Mrs Beckett as the new Year 3 team.
Carpark Procedures
The leadership team has recently reviewed our carpark procedures. For the safety of all students, please ensure you follow the guidelines for the pick-up and drop-off lanes.
- Parking is strictly prohibited in drive-through zones to keep traffic flowing safely and efficiently.
- If you need to leave your vehicle for any reason, please park in a marked bay and escort your child directly to the nearest footpath.
- Please ensure children exit on the passenger/kerb side to avoid doors opening into traffic.
- Students should not access the car boot for school bags, as this creates hazards when cars behind pull out of the drive-through lane.
- Please drive at walking pace in the carparks for child safety.
- Accessible Car Park Bays are marked and should only be used by those with an ACROD permit.
Before School Supervision
School officially begins at 8.40am; we are required to provide duty of care 15 minutes beforehand. To support families, we provide earlier duty of care with a staff member rostered in the undercover area from 8.15am. Recently, some students have been arriving earlier than 8.15am, when no supervision is available unless students are booked into Out of School Hours Care (OSHC).
During Term 2, staff will send students arriving before 8.15am to the office and parents will be contacted.
Thank you for working with us to ensure all students arrive safely and are appropriately supervised before school.
Winter Uniform
Students return on Monday 20 April in full winter uniform. High standards of uniform presentation reflect the pride we take in our school and the image we uphold. Clear guidelines for uniform and grooming are available on our school website. These expectations are not optional; they are an important part of our school ethos. Next term, staff will be following up on uniform expectations to ensure Liwara students are united in wearing their uniforms with pride. We appreciate your support in upholding the standards outlined on our website in the Parent Handbook or by click on this link: https://www.liwara.wa.edu.au/wp-content/uploads/School-Uniform-Policy-Uniform-Requirements-Info-1.pdf
Term Dates
Please refer to the school website for Term Dates, Pupil Free Days and the live School Calendar. This includes sacramental and key dates for the year.
ENROLMENTS FOR CHILDREN IN KINDY 2028 AND PRE KINDY 2026/2027
We currently have a limited number of vacancies for 2026 across selected year groups. Please contact our Enrolment Officer, as soon as possible, to discuss the enrolment process as we are currently meeting with future and current families for our 2026 Pre Kindy placements. We will commence our Kindy interviews for 2027 in the next few weeks. If you have a child commencing Kindy in 2027, please submit your application NOW. Please note, that Kindy is conducted on Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday and Pre Kindy is held on Thursday & Friday.
Enrolment information and applications can be downloaded from our school website HERE or a paper copy can be collected from the school office.
As we approach the holidays, it is a good time to plan for some quality family time which includes some downtime. Moments of quiet and simply “being” together support positive mental health and help restore balance for both children and adults.
I wish you all a blessed Easter Weekend and a relaxing holiday.
Take care and God bless

PHYSICAL EDUCATION NEWS
Be a Sporting Hero Free Dress Day and Sports Equipment Collection in support of FAIR GAME
Students are invited to come to school dressed as their favourite Sporting Hero or in their team colours, on Friday, May 1 in return for sports equipment donations. We are supporting Fair Game, a WA charity that recycles sports equipment and distributes it to children in remote, regional and underserviced communities across the State.
- Come dressed as your favourite sporting hero or in your team colours
- Bring any unwanted or outgrown sports equipment to donate – most needed items are runners, footy boots, footballs, soccer balls and basketballs. Please make sure donations are clean and in good useable condition with plenty of life left in them.
- We are not able to take helmets or clothing.
- Your pre-loved equipment makes you a sporting hero as it enables another child to enjoy the benefits of playing sport too.
Swimming Carnival News
The 2026 Swimming Carnival took place for Years 4 to 6 with excellent achievements and magnificent demonstrations of our school values! The Year 4’s enjoyed their first swimming carnival, Year 5’s kept the close competition going and the Year 6’s shined in their last as Liwara students. The student put their teamwork to the test as they participated in some lifesaving activities thanks to Royal Lifesaving WA. Whilst in the competitive individual events it was Boree who led the points this year!
Thank you to the staff and parents for assisting with the day, as well as to the spectators who came along to cheer along poolside.
Congratulations also to all our participants for giving their best efforts during the event and we wish our interschool squad all the best for their carnival at the start of next term!

CANTEEN NEWS
Canteen Volunteers Wanted!
The Liwara Canteen is looking for 2–3 regular parent volunteers to help on Fridays (11.30 am–12.30 pm), 2 hours max. No experience required—just a willingness to complete a free Food Handling course.
It’s a fantastic way to support our school and our students. We’d love to welcome you!
If you are interested, please contact the canteen and they will be able to provide you with a unique code for the training.

Thank you for your continued support of the canteen throughout Term 1, particularly during the recent price adjustments.
From time to time, certain items may not appear on our online ordering system. This generally indicates that the item is temporarily out of stock, either while we await our next delivery or as we catch up with food preparation. This most commonly affects our milk and focaccia pizza slabs. As these items are delivered on Wednesdays, availability can be limited on Mondays and Tuesdays within our ordering cycle.
Please note that we are unable to modify ingredients in our sushi or focaccia slabs, as these items are not prepared on-site and are delivered fresh to the canteen.
We would also like to extend our sincere thanks to our Term 1 Year 6 student helpers for their valuable assistance during lunchtimes. Your support is greatly appreciated.
We wish all families a happy and safe Easter and school holiday break and look forward to welcoming everyone back next term.
Thank you once again for supporting the Liwara canteen.

CHILDREN'S LITURGY VOLUNTEERS - PARENT HELPERS NEEDED
We're seeking parent volunteers to join our All Saints Greenwood parish children’s liturgy team! We need extra helpers to support our group leaders in supervising young children during the Sunday 9:30am Mass children’s liturgy sessions. Typically, we ask for a commitment of just one Sunday per term. Volunteers will need to secure a Working With Children check, and we’re happy to assist you with the process. If you’d like to get involved, we’d love to have you—please text Bianca at 0418 986 893 to sign up!
24:7 YOUTH MINISTRY
TUESDAY 31ST MARCH
Last week at 24:7 Greenwood was a vibrant and memorable evening, as the group came together to celebrate both an Easter Egg Hunt and an Encounter Night. The night began with a relaxed time of fellowship, where the young people connected over card games, helping to create a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere.
The structured program commenced with a lively round of The Name Game, followed by the much-anticipated Easter Egg Hunt, which brought energy and excitement to the evening. The group then enjoyed a final game of Spotlight, continuing to build engagement and participation.
To conclude the night, the focus shifted to a more reflective Encounter. Lucy shared a meaningful talk, exploring the final part of the Mass and emphasising how we are sent forth as missionaries, called to use our unique gifts to serve others in the world. This message encouraged the young people to consider how they can actively live out their faith beyond the church setting.
On behalf of everyone at 24:7 Greenwood, we wish all families a safe and blessed Easter.
NEXT YOUTH GROUP
The next youth group will take place in two weeks’ time, following the Easter weekend. As it falls during the school holidays, the evening will be a Games Night, providing a fun and relaxed opportunity for the young people to come together, build friendships, and enjoy a strong sense of community.
God Bless, Jesse & Lucy

Set beneath the ocean’s surface and along a sunlit shoreline, The Little Mermaid follows Ariel — a curious young mermaid with a head full of dreams — who longs to explore life beyond the waves. When she makes a risky deal to chase that dream, she discovers that growing up isn’t just about getting what you want, but learning what truly matters: family, courage, and finding your voice. For parents, it’s more than a day or night out. Live musical theatre gives children something screens can’t: shared laughter in a room full of people, music that lands in the chest, and a story that becomes a conversation on the way home. It’s a rare kind of family time — everyone together, swept up in the same moment.
