Prayer for Pope Leo
Lord, source of eternal life and truth,
give to your shepherd a spirit
of courage and right judgment, a spirit
of knowledge and love. By governing
with fidelity those entrusted to his care,
may he, as successor to the Apostle
Peter and vicar of Christ, build your
Church into a sacrament of unity, love,
and peace for all the world.
Amen

FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Dear Parents and Caregivers
P&F Colour Run
What a busy, exciting and colourful afternoon we had! Thank you to our wonderful P&F for organising this fun event for our students and to all our families for their generous donations. We were blessed with wonderful weather and the smiles on all the children’s faces was wonderful to see.
Mother’s Day
Mother’s Day was another beautiful celebration for our community. Muffin with Mum was a great idea and it was wonderful to see lots of mothers and children walking and talking together. These events don’t just happen. The Liwara staff are so dedicated to give of their time before and after school to pack muffin boxes and set up our beautiful tables and decorations. We hope all families had a wonderful time together celebrating the important role that mothers play in our lives.
Main Roads Mural
The mural on the Freeway is really progressing! We hope you can see it taking shape. It was such an exciting project for our school to be a part of. Stay tuned for the final mural to be revealed.
Communion Commitment Masses
Our Year 4 classes and Catechist children are busy preparing to celebrate the sacrament of Communion in a few weeks. As part of their sacramental journey, all students are asked to attend a Mass at All Saints Parish this weekend to commit to their journey and preparation. It is also our Family Mass, so it will be lovely to see as many families attend as possible.
Running Club
WOW! Running Club is off to a fantastic start. The wonderful Autumn weather is certainly helping. Lots of red cheek students walking up to class to start their day after an energetic work out. This helps their fitness, as well as helping get some of their energy out so they can focus on the academic day ahead of them.
Pupil Free Days
Please take note of the Public Holiday and Pupil Free Days coming up this term.
- Monday 2 June- WA DAY Public Holiday
- Tuesday 3 June- Pupil Free Day

CLASSROOM NEWS
MOTHER'S DAY IN YEAR 2
This week in Year 2, we’ve been buzzing with excitement as we prepared to celebrate Mother’s Day in meaningful and creative ways. It has been a joyful journey of reflection, expression, and appreciation as students took the time to think about everything that makes their mums so special.
We also created colourful and detailed portraits of our mothers. Using a mix of drawing and painting techniques, the students captured their mums' features and personalities with care and creativity. These artworks are sure to be treasured keepsakes for years to come!
To add an extra personal touch, each child designed and handcrafted a personalised bracelet as a gift. Choosing from a selection of beads, charms and colours, the bracelets were made with love and care—many children choosing colours and symbols they knew their mums would love.
One of the highlights of the week was our "Walk and Talk" morning held on Thursday. It was wonderful to welcome our mums into school for a relaxed and cheerful morning stroll around the oval. The children enjoyed spending some quality one-on-one time with their mums, sharing stories, laughing together, and enjoying the beautiful autumn weather. It was a lovely way to connect and slow down during a busy school week.
Mother’s Day in Year 2 has truly been a celebration of love, gratitude, and the special bond between children and their mums. We hope all our Year 2 mums felt the love and appreciation they so deeply deserve!

CANTEEN NEWS
Several weeks ago, we were informed about several requests that had been put through from the Year 6 Ministry, asking for some new items to be provided by the canteen. Whilst these items would need to be in line with the Foodcore Nutrition Services that we follow, we went through the on-line recipes that they provide.
The new muffins we are making, Apple & Cinnamon and Chocolate (with added extras), have become a very popular addition to our recess items. We also tried a fruit toast with apple filling, hummus with wholemeal crackers and veggie sticks, and added a ham and pizza scroll in addition to the vegemite and cheese we currently make.
We quite frequently check other school’s menu items, and we feel that we cover mostly all of the meals that they provide for lunches. Thank you to the Ministry for providing feed back to the canteen, we always love to hear from you. If you think there is anything we can add to our menu.
A reminder that canteen orders need to be submitted online by 9.00am. Check out the menu at https://www.liwara.wa.edu.au/wp-content/uploads/Canteen-Menu-Updated-15-July-2024.pdf - there is something for everyone to enjoy!!
Thank you for supporting the Canteen.

PARISH YOUTH MINISTRY NEWS
TUESDAY 13TH MAY
Last week at 24:7 Greenwood was truly special as we welcomed all our mums to join us in celebrating Mother's Day! It was a heartwarming evening filled with fun, connection, and appreciation.
We kicked off the night with a series of games that showcased the spirit of our youth group and encouraged collaboration between the youth and their mums. The evening began with a Photo Bingo activity, followed by a lively Blindfold Obstacle Course that had everyone laughing and working together.
One of the highlights of the night was a Mother-Child Quiz, testing how well the youth knew their mums - it brought out some great surprises and lots of smiles! We wrapped up the evening with a fun game of Guess the Link, rounding off a joyful and meaningful night of celebration.
NEXT YOUTH GROUP
This week we will begin to dive deeper into our new term theme. We're excited to welcome a guest speaker who will explore the concept of the "Invisible Cage" - a powerful reflection on the bad habits that can prevent us from experiencing true freedom in Christ. It promises to be an engaging and thought-provoking evening. We look forward to seeing you there!

God bless,
Jesse and Lucy
