 Start of Term Prayer

I pray for success and achievement in this new school term.
Grant me the wisdom to set clear goals,
the patience to persevere through the challenges,
and the strength to overcome obstacles.
Let Your divine light shine up on my academic journey,
illuminating the way to knowledge and understanding.
Help me make the most of this opportunity to learn and grow,
and may my efforts bear fruit in the form of success and accomplishments.

Amen

FROM THE PRINCIPAL

Dear Parents and Caregivers

Term 4 Events

As we step into the final term of the school year, it’s hard to believe how quickly 2025 has flown by. Term 4 is always a special time at Liwara – a time of reflection, celebration, and anticipation as we prepare to farewell our Year 6 students and wrap up another year of learning, growth, and community spirit.
This term is filled with exciting events and opportunities for our students to shine.  From end-of-year performances and excursions to liturgical celebrations and our much-anticipated Liwara Fair and Year 6 Thanksgiving Mass and Graduation Ceremony, we look forward to sharing these joyful moments with you.
P & F Disco
I know the children are all extremely excited about the disco that is on this evening organised by our amazing P&F with the support of many of our parents, where every
detail is thoughtfully planned and thoroughly enjoyed. The hall will be buzzing with excitement as students from all year levels will be dancing the evening away. A huge thank you to our P&F volunteers who have worked tirelessly to create such a fun and safe environment for our children. A very special thank you to our fantastic DJ Mr Joshua Rao who has once again generously offered his services for the disco and so many of our other events to provide the music, which results in many smiling faces and energetic dance moves!
Interschool Athletics Carnival
Looking ahead, we’re gearing up for the Year 3-6 Interschool Athletics Carnival, which is just around the corner. Our students have been training hard during PE lessons and are eager to represent Liwara with pride and determination. The carnival promises to be a day filled with ‘sportspersonship’, teamwork and personal bests. I encourage families to come along and cheer on our athletes as they compete in track and field events against neighbouring schools.
Final Weeks of 2025
We are incredibly proud of the resilience, kindness, and enthusiasm our students have shown throughout the year. Their efforts, supported by our dedicated staff and your unwavering partnership, have made 2025 a truly memorable year.
As we journey through the final weeks, let us continue to nurture a spirit of gratitude and hope. Thank you for being an integral part of our Liwara family – your support
and involvement make all the difference.
Wishing you a wonderful Term 4 ahead!

PHYSICAL EDUCATION NEWS - YOUR MOVE

What a terrific way to start the day!”. A sentiment that was shared by bike riders young and old as Liwara attempted a Bike Bus for the first time. It was a big success with lots of our community gearing up and travelling to school in an active way. A wonderful spread of fruit, muffins and juices awaited our riders when they got to school, and a temporary tattoo and WA Bike Month sticker meant they could show their friends with pride how they got they got to school in the morning.

As our community is quite widespread, it was excellent to see some of families using their initiative to set up their own minibuses to get to school. Some of our students took advantage of the park and ride opportunities by meeting at a local park or the nearby grocery store and joining from there. One of our Year 6 students was asked how she had planned her morning commute and what she enjoyed about the event.

‘A group of us decided we wanted to ride to school so we got our parents to drop us at a friend’s house who live near one of the local parks. Some of our group ride to school when the weather is nice, but I was doing it for the first time. It was great to have some others do it with me, so I was a bit less nervous. I liked getting muffin before school and helping the younger kids with their tattoos, but I am not looking forward to riding home after school.’

Families who joined the path set out by Mr Sanders really enjoyed the idea and are looking forward to doing it again in the future. Our hope is that this idea can springboard some of our community into venturing to school in an active way more often by joining some friends on the commute. Well done to all of our riders!

CANTEEN NEWS

Welcome back to Term 4, we hope you had a great holiday.

We have been cooking and preparing all of the menu items this week, we are all stocked and ready for a busy term.

We will be having an across the menu price rise shortly.  Most of our menu prices have not increased for some time. This will enable us to keep up with the cost of produce we use to make our healthy and tasty recess and lunch items.

The focaccias are very popular and our most ordered item.  These are a “green” healthy item and a great addition to our menu.  Just a little reminder that the focaccia and sushi orders cannot be changed as those items are made up and delivered fresh to us.

Thank you for supporting the Liwara Canteen.  If you have any queries please feel free to email or pop in and have a chat.

A reminder that canteen orders need to be submitted online by 9.00am.  Check out the menu at https://www.liwara.wa.edu.au/wp-content/uploads/Canteen-Menu-Updated-15-July-2024.pdf - there is something for everyone to enjoy!!

Thank you for supporting the Canteen.

We need extra helpers to support our group leaders in supervising young children during the Sunday 9:30am Mass children’s liturgy sessions. Typically, we ask for a commitment of just one Sunday per term. Volunteers will need to secure a Working With Children check, and we’re happy to assist you with the process. If you’d like to get involved, we’d love to have you—please text Bianca at 0418 986 893 to sign up!

PARISH YOUTH MINISTRY NEWS

TUESDAY 28TH OCTOBER

Last week at 24:7 Greenwood, we had an awesome night filled with energy, games, and fun. The evening began with some relaxed card and board games before we moved into our first group activity, Spoons, which brought out plenty of friendly competition and laughter. We then played Spotlight, keeping everyone on their toes, and finished the night with an exciting game of soccer. It was a fantastic evening of friendship, teamwork, and joy.

NEXT YOUTH GROUP

Our next 24:7 Greenwood Youth Group will be held next week, and it’s set to be a special one — our MasterChef Night! The youth will have the chance to get creative and make their own food creations, testing their teamwork and imagination in the kitchen. We’re also excited to welcome the Youth Mission Team, with one of their members sharing a personal faith testimony. It’s going to be an inspiring and enjoyable night of faith, fun, and fellowship.

God bless,

Jesse and Lucy
