Prayer for Family Protection
Dear Heavenly Father, As we begin this new day, we come before you with hearts full of gratitude for the gift of our family. We thank you for the love, support, and bond that unite us.
We humbly ask for your divine protection over each member of our family. Watch over us, both near and far, as we go about our daily routines. Shield us from harm, accidents, and illness. Guard our hearts and minds against negative influences.
Bless our home with peace, harmony, and unity. Help us to treat one another with kindness and respect, and to be a source of support and encouragement for each other.
Lord, we place our trust in you, knowing that your love is a fortress around us. May your angels encamp around our home, ensuring our safety and well-being as we come in and go out.
Guide our steps, O Lord, and may we always seek to follow your path of righteousness. Grant us wisdom to make wise decisions and the strength to overcome any challenges we may face.
We commit ourselves and our family into your loving hands today and all days, knowing that with you, we are secure and protected. In Jesus' name, we pray.
Amen

Dear Parents and Caregivers
CALLING ALL FAMILIES – We Need Your Help For the School Fair!

Our much-anticipated Annual School Fair is just around the corner—happening next Friday—and we’re calling on our amazing Liwara families to lend a hand to make it a success!
This isn’t just a fun day – it’s a vital fundraiser that directly benefits your children. The funds raised go straight back into enhancing learning experiences, improving resources, and supporting programs that make Liwara such a special place to grow and learn.
We’re asking families to volunteer just an hour or two of their time to help run stall, supervise activities, or assist with setup and pack-down. Every helping hand makes a difference – and together, we can create a vibrant, welcoming event that reflects the strength of our community.
A huge thank you to our dedicated Fair Committee, who have been working tirelessly behind the scenes to bring this event to life. Now it’s time for us all to pitch in and support their efforts.
Let’s show our Liwara spirit – sign up today (click on the link here) to take you to the booking sheet and be part of something wonderful!
Let’s make this year’s fair the best one yet!
LIWARA SHINES WITH SUSTAINABILITY AWARD
We are thrilled to announce that Liwara Catholic Primary School has been awarded the Catholic Education WA Quality Catholic Education (QCE) Award in the Stewardship category! The award recognises the outstanding efforts being made at Liwara Catholic Primary School to promote environmental responsibility and sustainable living.
The award submission, led by our passionate and dedicated Science teacher, Mrs Pia Tilka, highlighted the incredible work being done across our school to embed sustainability into the heart of our learning and operations. From our thriving school garden and composting initiatives to our student-led environmental projects and waste-wise programs, Liwara continues to lead by example in caring for our common home and nurturing a generation of environmentally aware students.
In addition to the recognition, the award includes a monetary prize, which will be used to further embed sustainability into our school culture. Plans are already underway to expand our green initiatives, enhance outdoor learning environments, and provide even more opportunities for students to engage with sustainability in meaningful, hands-on ways.
We are incredibly proud of Mrs Tilka’s leadership and passion, which continues to inspire both staff and students and our entire Liwara community for supporting a greener, brighter future! This award is not just a celebration of what we’ve achieved—it’s a launchpad for what’s to come and it reflects our shared belief in the importance of nurturing not only young minds but also the world they will inherit.
Together, we are living out our Catholic values through action, stewardship, and a deep respect for creation. Well done, Liwara!
CELEBRATING OUR GRANDPARENTS
At Liwara Catholic Primary School, we believe in the power of family and the special role grandparents play in the lives of our students. Yesterday, we were blessed to welcome many of our beloved grandparents to the school for a heartwarming Grandparents Event.
The day was filled with smiles, stories, and shared moments as students proudly showed their grandparents around their classrooms, introduced them to their teachers and friends, and enjoyed special activities together. It was a beautiful reminder of the love, wisdom, and support that grandparents bring to our community. We are so grateful to everyone who joined us and helped make the day so memorable. A special thank you to our staff who worked behind the scenes to create such a welcoming and joyful atmosphere.
To all our grandparents – thank you for your presence, your encouragement, and the lasting impact you have on our children’s lives. You are truly cherished members of our Liwara family.
BOOK FAIR
We are thrilled to share that the Scholastic Book Fair has once again been a fantastic success! A huge thank you goes out to Mrs Clark, whose enthusiasm, organisation, and love of reading have made this event such a joyful experience for our students. Her ability to spark excitement around books and create a welcoming, engaging atmosphere has helped foster a strong reading culture throughout our school.
The Book Fair not only brings wonderful new books into the hands of our students but also supports our school library through the rewards earned from every purchase. It’s a win-win for literacy and learning!
Thank you to all the families who visited and supported the fair. Your involvement helps nurture a lifelong love of reading in our children.
We look forward to many more book-filled adventures ahead!

CLASS NEWS
PHYSICAL EDUCATION NEWS - YOUR MOVE
What a terrific way to start the day!”. A sentiment that was shared by bike riders young and old as Liwara attempted a Bike Bus for the first time. It was a big success with lots of our community gearing up and travelling to school in an active way. A wonderful spread of fruit, muffins and juices awaited our riders when they got to school, and a temporary tattoo and WA Bike Month sticker meant they could show their friends with pride how they got they got to school in the morning.
As our community is quite widespread, it was excellent to see some of families using their initiative to set up their own minibuses to get to school. Some of our students took advantage of the park and ride opportunities by meeting at a local park or the nearby grocery store and joining from there. One of our Year 6 students was asked how she had planned her morning commute and what she enjoyed about the event.
‘A group of us decided we wanted to ride to school so we got our parents to drop us at a friend’s house who lives near one of the local parks. Some of our group ride to school when the weather is nice, but I was doing it for the first time. It was great to have some others do it with me, so I was a bit less nervous. I liked getting a muffin before school and helping the younger kids with their tattoos, but I am not looking forward to riding home after school.’
Families who joined the path set out by Mr Sanders really enjoyed the idea and are looking forward to doing it again in the future. Our hope is that this idea can springboard some of our community into venturing to school in an active way more often by joining some friends on the commute. Well done to all of our riders!

CANTEEN NEWS
We would like to advise that any IOU notes you receive home can be paid at the canteen and the office or by ordering the same item online for another day. If you choose the online option, please add into the notes area, advising that this is for an IOU for a previous order. Thank you.
The focaccias are very popular and our most ordered item. These are classed as “green” by Foodcore and are a great addition to our menu. We are sorry but we cannot make any changes to the toppings however, as they are purchased in for us.
We have a few queries from parents asking about choosing the additions, such as toasting, on our on-line ordering. These additions can be found under the small X at the side of the item. If that is clicked it will give a list of options you can add to your order.
Thank you for your great support of our Canteen. If there is anything you need to ask us, or you have any queries, please feel free to contact the canteen or just pop in and have a chat.
A reminder that canteen orders need to be submitted online by 9.00am. Check out the menu at https://www.liwara.wa.edu.au/wp-content/uploads/Canteen-Menu-Updated-15-July-2024.pdf - there is something for everyone to enjoy!!

PARISH YOUTH MINISTRY NEWS
TUESDAY 28TH OCTOBER
Last week at 24:7 Greenwood, we had an awesome night filled with energy, games, and fun. The evening began with some relaxed card and board games before we moved into our first group activity, Spoons, which brought out plenty of friendly competition and laughter. We then played Spotlight, keeping everyone on their toes, and finished the night with an exciting game of soccer. It was a fantastic evening of friendship, teamwork, and joy.
NEXT YOUTH GROUP
Our next 24:7 Greenwood Youth Group will be held next week, and it’s set to be a special one — our MasterChef Night! The youth will have the chance to get creative and make their own food creations, testing their teamwork and imagination in the kitchen. We’re also excited to welcome the Youth Mission Team, with one of their members sharing a personal faith testimony. It’s going to be an inspiring and enjoyable night of faith, fun, and fellowship.
God bless,
