Heavenly Father, on this Fathers’ Day, we thank you for the gift of fathers. Fill their hearts with strength, patience and wisdom. When burdens grow heavy, remind them they are never alone. Guide their steps with Your light, surround them with peace and bless their days with love and purpose.

Next weekend, Saturday, 12 September at 6:00pm and Sunday, 13 September at 9:30am, most of our Year Six students will receive the Sacrament of Confirmation. Candidates receive the gifts of the Holy Spirit which include; wisdom, understanding, counsel, fortitude, knowledge, piety and fear of the Lord. I would like to thank the Year Six teachers Mrs McCabe and Mr Vine, for preparing these students for the celebration. Please keep these students in your prayers as they take another step in their personal faith journey.
Reconciliation
On Saturday, 22 August, most of our Year Three students participated in the Sacrament of Reconciliation. I would like to thank Fr Ziggy for leading us throughout the Liturgy and to the Year Three teachers who helped prepare the students.
Pyjama Day
On Wednesday, staff and students enjoyed wearing their pyjamas to school as part of our fundraiser for LifeLink. We are delighted to share that, through the generous support of our families, more than $400 was raised. Thank you for helping make a difference.
Students could also bring a soft toy donation for Wheelchairs for Kids. A big thank you to the Year 6 Faith Ministry for organising and promoting this fundraiser.

Learning Journey
On Wednesday, 9 September between 3:30-5:30pm, our classrooms will be open for our families to come through and see the amazing work the students have completed this term. It is an opportunity to see how much effort your child puts in every day. Please note, this is not a time for teachers to receive any questions about your child’s learning. If you wish to have a conversation with your child’s teacher, please arrange a separate time.
Year One Assembly
What a wonderful assembly this afternoon from our Year One students. I was so impressed with their superhero efforts! A big thank you to Miss Bodeker and Mrs Carberry for preparing the students over many weeks.
Athletics
Term Three has been especially busy with all our athletics events and we still have more to come over the next few weeks. On Tuesday, 15 September, our Kindy and Pre-Primary students will have the opportunity to showcase their athletic talents from 1:30-2:30pm on the School Oval and on Friday, 18 September our Year 1-6 students will be on the athletics track. Puzzle Club
Our Puzzle Club students are preparing themselves for the Interschool Puzzle Club State Championships on Tuesday, 22 September. Thank you to Mrs McCabe and Mrs Sparkes for volunteering their time each Monday afternoon. I’m looking forward to hearing how they go!

Fathers’ Day
Yesterday morning, Fathers and Father Figures were treated to ‘Donuts with Dad’ for our Fathers’ Day Celebration. It was wonderful to see the students with their Dads walking around the school oval, although I think the best part of the day was listening to the Dad Jokes in the video presentation. Wishing all Fathers and Father Figures a wonderful Fathers’ Day this Sunday, hopefully you are spoilt by your children.
Liwara Digital Museum
The launch of the Liwara Digital Museum is a wonderful celebration of our school's rich history and the dedication of staff who have worked tirelessly to bring this vision to life. What began as Andrea Millar's dream to create a place where "the beautiful school has its history out there for all to read about" has become a reality through the combined efforts of Andrea Millar, Gaye Margetic and Amanda McCabe. Andrea's commitment to "leave a legacy" for future generations inspired the project, while Gaye laid important foundations through earlier website development work. Amanda's expertise and creativity helped transform the vision into the engaging digital experience we can now share with our community. Their collaboration, perseverance and belief in preserving Liwara's story have created a lasting resource that honours our past, celebrates our present and inspires future generations. Leave of Absence Form
As you may be aware, families who take their child/ren out of school during term time need to complete a Leave of Absence Form prior to any absence. This form can be completed at the front office or a copy can be emailed for your completion.
WA Student Assistant Payment
The WA Student Assistance Payment helps parents and carers with the cost-of-living pressures associated with sending their children to school. Families can claim $150.00 per student from Kindy to Year 6. Eligible families can now access information on how to make a claim submission through the ServiceWA app - click on this link to access the app: ServiceWA app: WA Student Assistance Payment 2026
All Western Australian school students in Kindergarten to Year 12, with a valid WA student number (WASN), are eligible for this cost-of-living payment. Families of students who have not received a previous Semester Report (students in Kindergarten, and those new to the Liwara since this year) will have received a letter with their child's WASN this week. All other families from Pre Primary to Year 6 can access their WASN via SEQTA ENGAGE: https://liwara.engage.cewa.edu.au/
All claims must be received by Friday 25 September 2026.
SCHOOL DENTAL SERVICE - REMINDER TO ENROL!
Every year Dental Health Services (DHS) offers parents and carers the chance to register their children for free dental care at the School Dental Service (SDS) The offer is open to every student from the year they turn 5 until their 17th birthday and includes check-ups, fillings and simple extractions.
If you have not already registered, your child will bring home an envelope with an enrolment form, Frequently Asked Questions, and reply-paid envelope from DHS. Just fill in the enrolment form, pop it in the reply-paid envelope, and put it in your nearest post box.
Once the form is received at DHS, the team will register your child and arrange for you to receive an appointment in the mail.

ENROLMENTS FOR CHILDREN IN KINDY 2028 AND PRE KINDY 2027
We have a limited number of places available for 2026 across selected year levels. We encourage you to contact our Enrolment Officer as soon as possible to discuss the enrolment process, as we are currently meeting with both prospective and current families regarding 2027 Pre Kindy placements.
We have completed our 2027 Kindy interviews and we have a waitlist. Applications for Kindy 2028 are now open for children born between 1 July 2023 and 30 June 2024, and we invite families to submit their application promptly.
If you are aware that your child will not be returning in 2027, can you please advise the front office in writing ASAP.
Please note that Kindy runs on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, while Pre Kindy is held on Thursday and Friday.

The Year One students entertained us today in the School Hall. It was great to see so many families come along and watch the performance.
Learning Journey
We look forward to welcoming you to enjoy your child’s Learning Journey on Thursday, 4 September from 3.30-5.30pm.
Confirmation
The Year Six students will enjoy their Confirmation Retreat in the School hall on Thursday, 10 September. The Retreat will be presented by the 24:7 Ministry. We will keep them in our prayers as they celebrate this special sacrament.

Year 3-6 Jumps & Throws Leaderboard Results So Far
It's shaping up to be a thrilling contest in the Year 3-6 Jumps & Throws events! Following strong performances in Long Jump, Shot Put and Turbo Javelin, the leaderboard remains incredibly close. Boree currently holds a slim lead, but with little separating the houses, the competition is far from over.
Mark your calendars for our Athletics Carnival on Friday, 18 September, beginning at 9.30am. With house pride on the line, it's sure to be a fantastic day of athletic achievement and spirited competition!

2026 Book Week
Thank you to everyone that came to the canteen and joined in the fun of our James and the Giant Peach book and canteen display. We sold lots of peach scones and peach pikelets, peach smoothies and frozen cubes. Another great year of Book Week.
Please note we cannot change the toppings on the Foccacia or change the make up of the sushi as we order these in fresh for us. Please note that we can provide GF bread and also lactose free margarine which can be ordered by adding a note to your order in the message area provided.
We also have some GF options available at recess, however these will need to be ordered prior to recess please, so we can have them warm and ready for pick up.
If you receive an IOU note home, these can be paid at the canteen or the office, or online by ordering the same item on another day, but please write a note in the instructions section letting us know it is for an IOU payment only.

CHILDREN'S LITURGY VOLUNTEERS - PARENT HELPERS NEEDED
We're seeking parent volunteers to join our All Saints Greenwood parish children’s liturgy team! We need extra helpers to support our group leaders in supervising young children during the Sunday 9:30am Mass children’s liturgy sessions. Typically, we ask for a commitment of just one Sunday per term. Volunteers will need to secure a Working With Children check, and we’re happy to assist you with the process. 24:7 YOUTH MINISTRY
TUESDAY 1ST SEPTEMBER
Last week at 24:7 Greenwood, we enjoyed another vibrant evening centred on fellowship, community, fun and faith. The evening began with a relaxed period of social time, with the young people spending time together through a variety of indoor and outdoor activities. This provided a welcoming opportunity for everyone to reconnect with friends and enjoy some fellowship before coming together as a group for the evening's program.
The evening continued with a series of interactive activities that encouraged participation, teamwork and friendly competition. Following these activities, the young people gathered for the main faith formation component of the evening, led by Lionel, who shared an engaging session on the Four Marks of the Catholic Church.
Lionel explored the historical development of the early Church and how Christianity spread throughout the world. He also introduced the young people to the Four Marks of the Church: One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic. The session highlighted how these four characteristics help to identify the Church established by Christ and continue to unite Catholics across different cultures and communities throughout the world. The young people were encouraged to consider how, although Catholic communities may have different traditions, expressions and practices depending on their cultural and geographical context, the Four Marks provide a common foundation that unites the Church as one worldwide community. The session provided an opportunity for the young people to develop a deeper understanding of the identity and universality of the Catholic Church.
On Sunday, 24:7 Greenwood also celebrated its Youth Mass, providing the young people with an opportunity to take an active role in the liturgy and contribute to the wider parish community. Young people participated in a variety of ministries throughout the Mass, including proclaiming the Word of God, singing in the choir, bringing forward the gifts and serving at the altar. It was particularly encouraging to see the young people actively involved in the celebration of the Mass and visibly contributing to the life of the parish. Their participation was a wonderful expression of the important role young people have within the Church and provided an opportunity for them to use their gifts in service of the wider community.
NEXT YOUTH GROUP
Our next youth group will be held this Sunday evening. We will be taking a break from our regular faith formation content to enjoy a relaxed and enjoyable Games Night together. The evening will provide an opportunity for the young people to unwind, strengthen friendships and continue building the sense of community that has developed throughout the term.
We look forward to welcoming everyone for another fun and engaging evening together.

Enrolments for the October and summer school holiday VacSwim programs are now open.

VacSwim programs give children from 5 to 17 years of age across Western Australia the skills to stay safe and build their confidence in the water.
We offer a variety of programs for your child:
- that range from 5 to 10 days in length
- in pool or calm water environments and at surf centres.
We hold lessons in more than 175 locations at pools and beaches around the state.
With help from friendly and qualified swimming instructors, your child can progress through stages 1 to 16, including achieving their Bronze Medallion.
