Mary MacKillop Prayer
God, through the intercession of Mary MacKillop,
We pray that the fire of your compassion will ignite many hearts.
May Mary’s attentiveness to your dream inspire us.
May her energy to overcome injustice empower us.
May we, like her, make manifest your Presence in our troubled world.
We pray that the beacon of her holiness shine as a blessing for the universal Church and our world.
We make this prayer in Jesus’ name.
Amen.
Tomorrow, August 8th, is Mary of the Cross MacKillop’s Feast Day. This date marks the anniversary of her death in 1909 and is observed across Australia and the Catholic Church to honour the country's first canonised saint.Saint Mary of the Cross MacKillop co-founded the Sisters of St Joseph of the Sacred Heart and fought for the education of poor and rural children.

Dear Parents and Caregivers
Catholic Identity
Term 3 Sacramental Programme
Our Year 3 students are preparing to make their first Reconciliation. Thank-you to all the parents and students who attended the Parent Workshop last night. Our Year 6 students will soon make their commitment, starting their journey in preparing for their Confirmation. Please keep these students in your prayers.
Year 4 Whole School Prayer
Thank-you to our Year 4 students for leading a meaningful whole school prayer service this week. The theme was Forgiveness with a special message to our Year 3 students as they continue their preparation to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation. This was a meaningful message from one peer group to the following year level, as they follow their footsteps.
2026 Census
The Australian Bureau of Statistics will be conducting the five-yearly national Census of Population and Housing on Tuesday, 11 August 2026. One key question that is optional asks Australians to identify their religion. For Catholics, this question is crucial to helping Catholic parishes, schools, dioceses, and organisations understand their communities. Please refer to the Media Release from the Australian Catholic Bishops Conference encouraging Catholics to identify themselves in the Census. Liwara Digital Museum
The launch of the Liwara Digital Museum is a wonderful celebration of our school's rich history and the dedication of staff who have worked tirelessly to bring this vision to life. What began as Andrea Millar's dream to create a place where "the beautiful school has its history out there for all to read about" has become a reality through the combined efforts of Andrea Millar, Gaye Margetic and Amanda McCabe. Andrea's commitment to "leave a legacy" for future generations inspired the project, while Gaye laid important foundations through earlier website development work. Amanda's expertise and creativity helped transform the vision into the engaging digital experience we can now share with our community. Their collaboration, perseverance and belief in preserving Liwara's story have created a lasting resource that honours our past, celebrates our present and inspires future generations. We thank them for their outstanding contribution to our school community. Please take some time to journey through the story of Liwara Catholic Primary School. 24:7 YOUTH MINISTRY
TUESDAY 4TH AUGUST
Last week, 24:7 Greenwood enjoyed another wonderful evening of fellowship, fun, and faith as the young people gathered for an engaging night together. The evening began with a variety of card and board games, giving everyone the opportunity to connect, catch up with friends, and welcome one another before moving into a series of energetic group activities. The first game of the night was Bin Basketball, followed by a lively round of Empires, both of which encouraged teamwork, friendly competition, and plenty of laughter.
Following the games, we transitioned into the formation component of the evening, where Lucy continued our term series exploring The Nicene Creed. This week's talk focused on the opening words of the Creed, reflecting on what they reveal about God as both our loving Father and the Creator of all things. Lucy unpacked the significance of professing our belief in "one God, the Father almighty, Creator of heaven and earth, of all things visible and invisible," helping the young people to appreciate God's loving care for His creation and His continual presence in our lives. She also explored the many visible and invisible gifts God has given us, encouraging everyone to recognise His providence and to respond with gratitude and trust in Him.
The evening concluded with time for fellowship, allowing the young people to continue building friendships while reflecting on the night's message in a welcoming and supportive community.
NEXT YOUTH GROUP
Our next Youth Group this weekend, we will continue our journey through The Nicene Creed as one of our student leaders explores what the Creed teaches us about Jesus Christ and who He is for us. Together, we will deepen our understanding of Christ's identity, His mission of salvation, and what it means to profess our faith in Him. We look forward to another evening of engaging activities, meaningful discussion, and continued growth in faith and community.
God Bless, Jesse & Lucy
